We have initiated some alternative ways to ensure the continued activities of savings groups, that can benefit from the use of technology.

Quick onboarding

In the new version of the Jamiipay group app (version 1.0.8) you can add members to the group by providing only first name and last name, not the full login credentials (username, password and pincode). This can be added later. Read more here

Meetings without meeting

A meeting registered in the Jamiipay app doesn’t have to happen in a physical, limited time and place. There are multiple ways to save up, and register the savings in the app after, keeping the meeting open until all savings have been collected. Read more about the different methods of doing savings here

Notifications

Every member can receive a service message on sms, email, or as a push message on the phone (the latter if they have the Jamiipay app installed).

These service messages will be sent during meeting, giving you receipts when your savings and loans have been registered in the jamiipay app. 

The advantage of notifications is that if a member is not present in the meeting registration, they can still get notified when their savings and loans are being registered in the Jamiipay group app. 

You can set the notifications by entering the profile page for each member.

Requirements: To receive notifications, it requires that the member has filled out phonemumber (for sms notification), email (for email notifications) or has the jamiipay app installed on their phone.

Stay safe during Covid19

We at jamii.one have developed an online resource center called jamii.academy with guidelines for 6 scenarios for alternative savings procedure, posters for print in English, Amharic and Afan Omoro that can be used free of charge in the work with savings groups during Covid19
